KAYBAYlyfeThe Thinking-Person’s Movie PodcastI came across this podcast after gradually losing interest in The Big Picture. I was hungry for a thoughtful and nuanced podcast without alienating inside jokes, apolitical takes, and host’s personal lives that aren’t interesting or relevant to the discussion. Enter Kelsi & Trey. These two are teachers and it definitely shows. Each episode feels like a my favorite high school English teacher having an open forum about a great movie. I will continue to support via Patreon and will continue recommending this to all my movie friends. Also am generally perplexed by anyone giving this podcast less than 5 stars

It's alright; I'm a doctor.PretentiousI couldn’t take more than a few sentences.

jewelsStar358A complete unknownYou were incorrect in stating the movie is trying to do what you say. About the politics of the time. If you listen to the interviews with the man Max that made it, he had no intention whatsoever trying to do that which you say they failed somewhat at.

Bruce Kim 2Really enjoyed the Ridley Scott episodeReally appreciate the in depth look at Ridley’s career in the recent episode. One masterpiece that is less seen and not discussed in the episode is his first film The Duellists. I think it’s an overlooked film that might be his best.
-
PyrichoriaMy favorite movie podcastI’m always interested in hearing what Kelsi and Trey have to say about the latest movies. I’ve listened to the Barbarian episode with Zach Cregger as least five times and it never gets old.

Steve C. G.Film Criticism Lives!“There no two words in the english language more harmful than ‘good job’”. Personally fatigued by the RT aggregation machine of “good jobs”, which misses so much context and richness in the discussion of film. I’m seeking more nuanced conversations and you guys are bringing a healthy balance of discussion, critiques, “done wells”, and “could’ve been betters”. Keep it coming!

bizzystephMy favorite film podcastI minored in cultural studies in college and we often spent classes applying theoretical frameworks to popular culture and media. I miss those class conversations so much but this podcast makes me feel like I’m back in college in my favorite classes! I watch movies so that I can listen to episodes of this show! We don’t always agree but they always have thoughtful well-argued analysis about every topic covered. I love the hosts commitment to finding meaning and the care with which they discuss art. They are also aware of how social systems impact movies and I love that a lot, I really appreciate the contextual cultural analysis that is consistent in every episode.

KdelmayCasual but well thought outI love Trey and Kelsi! They clearly spend a lot of time thinking about movies and how they relate to our lives in general and know how to analyze content without losing the meaning. They are genuine, smart, and funny. It almost feels like you’re just chatting with a friend over lunch about the latest show or movie they watched. Highly recommend 💕

That Dirty So-and-SoMore Insights Than Many Media-Branded PodsGlad I came across these two for the last season of “Succession”: They frequently showed more insight into the characters than many of the professional arts and culture journalists on media-sponsored pods; especially appreciate Kelsi’s analysis and ability to highlight both the larger narrative arcs and, indeed, the feminist perspective. A great team! (Also heartening to know there are still some dedicated educators out there!)

mel33336666Love them! They inspire me to watch new movies & I always check out something if they post an episode about it! I needed this podcast in my life to validate me on how I watch movies & shows! Thanks y’all!

MembeliaMy Favorite Podcast Team!Kelsi & Trey do a fabulous job of recapping and critiquing. Their banter and humor showcases their thoughtfulness and intelligence but not in a snooty way. I loved especially The Last of Us and Succession podcasts . I always learn something when I listen so it’s Bonus Points to these kids.

thatGirlmmmBOPA Must Listen for Movie/ TV LoversRecently discovered Kelsi & Trey because I was looking for a podcast discussing the various Oscar nominated movies. They are so well researched and the conversation is always engaging. I find that I learn something new or reconsider details that I may have missed or overlooked. I think what I appreciate most is that they are an independent podcast. As someone who hosts their own podcast, I understand the struggle of being “the little guy” in a sea of podcasts produced by major umbrella companies. So I empathize with how much work goes into creating a great show. Can’t wait to delve into their back catalogue and learn even more about my favorite film & TV shows.

bizzyestephExcellent conversationsI love the critics analysis that happens on this pod - the hosts are invested in analyzing movies and tv with a socially conscious lens in a way that also feels authentic and not forced. I appreciate their themes discussion — one of the more in depth podcasts that engages all the things I want to hear about with my favorites movies. Kelsi and Trey are also so community oriented, building a pod family on letterboxd which is so fun to be a part of. Love them!!!
-
diddlebbLove this podcastI was looking for a podcast that reviews the shows and fandom that I love with the deep and dorky context that I crave after watching a show while discussing the themes under the lens of a progressive social commentary. Thank you!
