    Helpful!
Great advice. I don’t get too much from the interviews but I understand appealing to all parties. The intro song had a time when it was blasting through the speakers and was too loud but I believe that’s since been adjusted. All social media manager advice I’ve received from this podcast has had a direct and positive effect on my personal business. I wish there was more!

    2021 podcast
As a new comer, I was excited to learn about social media management and not being alone! So of course, I scroll all the way to the bottom (very second podcast she ever made…) & she begins to discuss about being “silent” during the George Floyd tragedy but then continues to push her obvious political views on her podcast in regards to needing better politicians who care in office… well, I hope your opinion on what we have in office now was worth you loosing a follower/listener! I am non-biased. I am not on either sides. I don’t want to come to a podcast to learn about social media management and then be pushed towards her political views. Keep that out of business! I gave 2 stars because her podcast quality sounded fine, her intro was good. But, lost me at the rest. I hope she sees this and can remove any podcast in regards to any views that’s not about social media management!

    Why the 1 stars?
I came here just to tell you why the 1 star reviews are wrong and why this is a great podcast for aspiring SMM’s. Dakota is incredibly articulate and clear and shares her insights from her experience and career to answer questions from her audience. She offers advice, strategies and current news in the social media space. She is speaking from her experience alone, because that’s how she learned to do what she does. If you don’t like listening to others and their perspective, I don’t know why you’re listening to a podcast at all. She brings guests on to bring fresh perspectives in a digital marketing context. I find this podcast to be well-rounded and a great full spectrum take on what is takes to manage social media today. Yes, that includes inclusive practices, taking tips from others like Dakota, and her guests, and adapting to an ever changing environment. If you can’t handle that, you are in the wrong field!

What Did I Just Listen To?
I came to this podcast hoping to learn more about transitioning to a career in social media management. Episode 24 sounded like the perfect starting point — An entire episode dedicated to whether a marketing degree was necessary for the field. Not only did Dakota fail to properly answer her listener’s question, but she went on to tell her fairytale story about accepting a lengthy unpaid internship at a fashion business in NYC, which eventually led to her working with various celebrities. Welcome to the real world, honey, where unpaid internships aren’t a viable option. She went on to mention that many social media management positions do require a degree but that she’d never been asked to provide proof of her degree so theoretically anyone could just lie and “say” they had a degree? GIRL WHAT. It was then that I stopped listening. At no point did she address the listener’s question regarding the pros & cons of a marketing degree, nor did she recommend any workarounds (courses or certifications) that might help the listener break into social media management. Dakota may be wonderful at what she does, but she fails to market HERSELF as a relatable career coach whose advice can be relied on.

I came into this with high hopes of learning about social media. Instead I was scolded for not being “woke” enough.
