tinalk2703Tiffany Slaton storyThere’s no way that story is true.

xxPiNKxiSxiNxxA little constructive criticismI listened to the Aron Ralston episode. I really don’t think I can listen to any more. The host who was actually doing the storytelling has the driest delivery and the mouth sounds were driving me crazy. I just don’t feel like it fits the level of intensity of the actual event that took place. I was excited to find this kind of podcast, but I need it to be more intriguing.

Lizzzz1243Too many interruptions during the storytelling.I’ve listened to three episodes so far and the stories themselves are interesting, but the delivery could use work. The hosts have calm, pleasant voices, but the dialogue often feels scripted and overly rehearsed. I personally enjoy a bit of natural banter, but in this case, there are just too many interruptions during the storytelling. The frequent questions like “What happened next?” or “What did they do?” end up breaking the flow especially when the storyteller was already getting there. It feels like the story can’t breathe. I’d love to hear the host peak more freely without so many interjections.

Trixie BeaverhausenA little too much gleeI listened to the Mt Hood climbing disaster episode. I’m hoping it was a one off as the hosts seem knowledgeable. Several pauses to get on track while telling the story, and the tone was a bit too glib for such a sad story-“bad day for Billy”. Not my cup of tea.

TriAsdOnly one NarratorI love this genre . I listen to Real Survival Stories by Noiser , whose presentation is excellent . I found The Crux. Julie does an excellent job of presenting very interesting stories . I prefer going straight to the meat of the story as opposed to a lot of extra commentary sometimes provided by the additional host . The presentation is much better without excess laughter and banter that doesn’t really lend to the story . I am not tuning in to be at a coffee table and be forced to listen to conversation that doesn’t interest me. I can go to a different podcast for that. I am tuning in to be entertained by a well researched and narrated story, which Julie very aptly does . They are doing a great job with this podcast at this point .

thisismylastattemptNopeThe stories looked promising, but the poor writing and the narration reminded me of a high school student reading an assignment in class. I hated high school.

lplatoSo goodCerebral but informative, touching, important, and all around good listen. I’m going to take some of the things I’ve learned back to my design team because I think it accentuates not only survival but how we conduct ourselves in every day life. Keep going ladies! And a great take-away… “at least there aren’t sharks involved” lol
-
Irked IguanaI want to love itGood hustle, but ladies...do you check your editing before publishing? Keep at it, just maybe make sure we all can't hear your multiple takes

Laurie222Great Stories!I just found this podcast a few weeks ago after having had my own survival experience. I’ve binged every episode and thoroughly enjoy listening to Kaycee, Tessa, and Julie share stories and tips for surviving all kinds of harrowing events. You guys are awesome!
-
ShenJohnToo much talkingInterview at the end, not the beginning. I’m not interested in this guy until after I hear the story.

MarloulamFavorite bedtime podcastI look forward to each new episode every Monday. I really enjoy the hosts even voices, the matter of fact, yet sprinkled with humor, way they tell each story, and the stories themselves are fascinating. My favorite podcast to fall asleep to every night, and I listen to them on repeat. Great job and thanks for THE CRUX!!
-
MRumfordLove it!I love stories of survival against the odds and am always ecstatic to find and subscribe to new ones. Discovered this one yesterday, and am loving it! Mind blowing stories of human grit and endurance. So glad I found you.

EMB13:)My go toMy sister who lives in Paris shared your podcast with me a few months ago and I’ve been hooked ever since. I’ve listened to most of your episodes, usually while driving, cooking, or in my art studio. I’ve told everyone about it because it is so well done, interesting, and fascinating. Why? I think because at the end of it all it is about HOPE, and the strength of the survivors and rescuers. Also, it shows how important the power of positive thinking has in life (and survival). The hosts of the podcast are pleasant to listen to and hear their knowledgeable perspective. They do a great job researching and adding to the story with relevant information about survival. This is my favorite podcast right now and I eagerly wait for when the post a new episode.

BnwbaronInteresting AccountsI love listening to these stories during workouts. The length is perfect and the accounts of what people go through to survive are always fascinating. I especially appreciate when the hosts follow up with “where are they now.“
-
Zzz16735FunI like the stories. I’ve listened to a lot of podcasts and only a few repeats. Kind of relaxing too.
-
pun haterwonderful subject matter but…unfortunately the hosts appear to be reading the text and it becomes very dry and boring as a result. I would love to love this podcast but their delivery makes it hard to recommend.
-
Davey boy jonesAll over the placeNot easy to follow the story as they bounce around too much.
-
GalahadaAd placement ruins showNo longer listening due to the terrible ad placement.
-
FrankthepeacockI like the calm tellings and shorter formatStumbled on this podcast and generally really enjoy it. The calmer voices work for me. I also don’t mind the ads, even though it’s a bummer they come mid sentence. The episodes are a nice length and I’ve added this show to my rotation. Hooray!
-
HellonewzAI Hosts?I’m pretty convinced these hosts are fake and this is an AI podcast.
-
Crime KatGood stories, but…I enjoy this podcast for the most part but the ads launch mid-word or mid-sentence and it aggravates me every single time. Please fix the ad placement!!!
-
julielauriaFIX THE ADS AND THE EDITINGPlease please please fix the ads and the editing. It is so terrible and makes it hard to listen. The stories are good but the editing is awful!!!
-
Tahoe Sierra SueI thank you for your podcast. I like the way you gals interact.I usually listen on Monday morning as I make coffee then sit down with Kaycee and Julie as they tell me a survival story. I listen to a lot of podcasts and think you two do a great job! Keep up the good work.
-
MyradelmarNo thanksWrong business to get into being a podcaster if your voices are flat and uninteresting and you can’t storytell?
-
Hawaiin monk sealAdsWhy ads mid sentence?? It’s so rude!!
-
Fluffin-ABoringAre these women here against their will? They don't sound like they're enjoying themselves. They're not well prepared. There's a lot of speculation on topics that were not specifically included in their notes. How'd they get sponsors?? Kind of a tortuous listen.
-
docjkmCannot recommendTwo erstwhile women bumping into walls.
-
ThebombRonaldo#CR7AdsThe show is my favorite but the ads mess it up can ya’ll please try to say now here’s a word from our sponsors

Kinda lameReally hard to listen toDon’t waste your time

CatsRisingBlandEpisode 1 is unlistenable. The host’s halting cadence leaves so much dead air that I shut it off after 10 minutes. I scanned ahead to a more recent episode, thinking the quality must be pretty improved after 3 years of experience. Yeah… it was improved, but still really flat. The hosts gain some confidence but the listen is still not worth the abrupt ad interruptions. The bests kinds of podcasts are either really clean and professional or, if the format is more casual, you have to have witty commentary. This podcast doesn’t offer anything new or creative or witty. The hosts are as bland as cornflakes. If you like cornflakes, stick around. If you like coco puffs, listen to “Tooth and Claw.” It’s a far superior production.
-
CHill2532AdsI really like this podcast but lately the ads have been SO SO poorly placed! Like…middle of a sentence poor. Please fix it! Y’all are so great otherwise.
-
Galex890LoveThank you both for covering the recent tragedies brought on by hurricane Helene and Milton. As a victim of Helene and a lover of survival stories, this was a deeply emotional listen.
-
Chavez210I triedTried liking this podcast. I enjoy survival stories. Just sounds like your reading off notes and not really telling the story. Just reading the story.
-
janelle.beasleyPlease fix the ads!I love this podcast but you started to insert the ads mid-sentence and it is very jarring and difficult to listen to.
-
Karen non-meme-adjacentReally enjoy thisI really like this show. It’s an overview of situations, it doesn’t claim to be a deep dive on all the details. I think the hosts pick out the most interesting facts and they react with appropriate emotion without being dramatic.
-
DaisyMay1718Great survival podcastGive it a listen! I love the style of storytelling! Keep up the great stories and experiences!
-
Jersey Girl in VermontVery good!Just found you and I love the podcast. Very nice hosts and interesting episodes.
-
Bex10A2D2Medical stuffI love the medical background the hosts bring to these stories. It’s my favorite thing about this show. The hosts share a lot of medical stories from their experience in treating patients. The more nitty-gritty medical explanations, the better the episode!
-
Michael from LeedsI want to like this podcast!I really do want to like this podcast. I believe the intentions of the hosts to entertain and educate are genuine. However, there is an obvious lack of basic research and preparation that I find troubling. For example, on the recent episode about the eruption of Mount Saint Helens one of the hosts said that earthquakes were causing the tectonic plates to move. That is wholly inaccurate. The exact opposite cause and effect relationship is true: The movement of tectonic plates causes earthquakes to occur. In the internet era I find these types of factual inaccuracies to be inexcusable.

AAAAiiimmmmmmGreat program! Great range of topics and formats thank you.I recently discovered your program and it’s absolutely wonderful. I particularly love the rapport you two have together. Your sense of humor and side meanderings are entertaining and often hilarious! I appreciate it all. I’m going through every episode in no time because they’re all so good. I love the range of topics and the diversity with which you present each episode. You never know what you’re going to hear and your interviewing and presenting information is really good.
-
p_ jonesStop the gigglingI’ve learned the best podcasts have: 1- no giggling 2- one host. More than one host usually means a bad podcast. I saw the story descriptions, and thought this was going to be a good story- telling podcast. Then within 15 seconds the giggling begins, and you can tell the host is reading, and not very well.
-
Achy JointsExhilarating!I just discovered this Podcast.. I’m a True Crime enthusiast but found myself needing to take a little break from the sadness and death. This my friends is just what the doctor ordered, stories of survival. What better way to find that there is hope even when you have lost all hope! Thank you, Kaycee and Julie
-
Jheath4Great podcastI enjoy the stories and their banter, and they both have soothing voices.
-
TeeTeecalLove this podcastI really enjoy this podcast. I’m a survival story enthusiast. I feel like my friends are telling me the story, Thank you ,I look forward to more episodes!
-
shelleyjsGreat podcast! One of my absolute go to podcasts. Compelling stories and the hosts are engaging and easy to listen to. A+
-
riverrat_daveNot worthwhileThe information being put out is not novel, and for the confidence with which it is expressed it isn’t dispelling any myths or informing at the cutting edge. Also, advertisements are frustratingly inserted literally mid-sentence. There are better out there, keep looking.
-
PlaqueattackGood stories, please edit commercials better!I really want to listen to more of this but it drives me crazy that the commercials are literally in the middle of their sentences. Takes you right out of the story. It’s aggravating. I think the podcast could be much better otherwise.
-
StockettofficialNot great does not engage listenerUnfortunately, this is one of the worst storytelling platform podcast. I’ve listened to the host are not engaging. The stories are lackluster would not recommend.
-
Sensitive listenerI love the show. Keep em comingEven though I have heard many of the stories before, I enjoy the details and safety discussions that you share. But -now that you have sponsors, please turn down the volume on the ads! I use earbuds and find it very annoying to have the loud ads. Thank you!
-
WhaattheheckLeaves much to be desiredI wanted to like this podcast as I like the outdoors and inspirational survival stories. However there is obviously lack of enthusiasm and research done for these episodes. The show has potential if there was more effort put into researching and reporting on the topics. Too many interruptions with unnecessary and “guessing” opinions.
